I’m convinced at this point that Raphael and Eric have intentionally bad takes to increase discussion, thus increasing page views.

It’s a good assumption.

PHEVs also require less maintenance than traditional ICE vehicles. Even most hybrids do. What’s your point?

No?

BEVs certainly have their place, and are almost certainly the future. Currently they are full of compromise (price, range, recharge time) that many people aren’t willing to accept. PHEVs eliminate almost all the compromise and can substantially reduce the impact on the environment. One EV in a 2 car household does

Most of what you said hinges on some PHEVs being not that good. Some are very good. The RAV4 Prime is excellent and is a great example of how a PHEV can cover someone’s daily driving functioning as an EV, while not having the range or charging issues on long trips that BEVs have. There was another commenter that

I don’t know where you are living where you didn’t have to show your ID to get those two jobs. Your I-9 requires two forms of ID. Please come up with a different reason other than ‘having jobs that required ID’ as to why people can’t get IDs.

That’s really dope. Thanks for sharing! I was looking at how the Sienna hybrid has a range of something like 650 miles to the tank, and that’s without even being able to plug it in. Everyone’s gripe about EVs is range and charge time. PHEVs solve both of those things.

Let me guess, you don’t think EVs require any maintenance.

Look at that compromise we just came to. We should run for congress.

I have an aversion to FCA products. I’m also a pretty big fan of Toyotas.

Yeah, that’s why it’s my username. You’re boiling over with creativity.

ok.

The Sienna hybrid is probably our next purchase. I’m hoping that they make a PHEV soon.

Furthermore, buying a candy bar is not enshrined in law as a right of every citizen (barring things like felony convictions). So, with a voter ID law now you’re introducing something that’s interfering with someone’s rights.

Oh boy, how original.

That’s racist.

I can’t really speak to what it’s like in other states, but where I live you essentially need to have an ID to do anything in life, including to be hired at the job you are claiming they would have to take time off from. I’d imagine most other states are the same. In my state, it’s $2 per year to get an ID. I don’t

Do you think people of color are too stupid to get an ID card? IMO, calling voter ID requirements racist is racist. You’re assuming people of color can’t achieve the same thing as everyone else.

I’d be very willing to buy a PHEV today if I were in the market for a new car whereas I wouldn’t even consider an EV.  They seem like the best of both worlds without the compromises that EVs have. I’m not sure where all the hate for PHEVs is coming from.
