Oh, you dirty masochist.

Agreed; I enjoy the questions and discussion, and read the comments. The slideshows are dumb, but that doesn’t mean QOTD is.

When I discovered water in the oil of my e39 M5. I noped right out of that car. In hindsight, that was a mistake and I should have just kept it and fixed it. One day I stepped through the floor of my e36 M3. That car was a disaster. I don’t regret getting rid of that one.

Crack pipe: patience a virtue.

They’ve also told California that the hardware that is already on the cars isn’t capable of FSD despite selling it as such.

In that example, I don’t believe the DLC will be cheaper by preordering. The company might claim that, but if the DLC is ever actually released, it will go down in price, not up in price. More likely, this DLC will never actually be released to preordering it is pretty dumb.

Yup

That was the last car.

Tried to drive a Chevy Spark rental on the interstate in the mountains and it couldn’t keep up with traffic uphill.

Value to customer only matters if Tesla is the only company that can deliver a level 5 autonomy, otherwise competition will drive price down. They are behind other companies on self-driving tech, so it’s not likely they will be the first or only company to market with the tech. Either way, it’s not going to happen on

The whole concept that FSD is cheaper now if you pre-order it than it will be as the technology matures is bonkers. No other technology follows that path. Technology gets cheaper as it matures.

There is a huge difference between a company setting lofty goals, and the government imposing unachievable (for all practical purposes) regulations.

1st: This is Jalopnik, no one here buys new cars.

Under the Obama rules, average fuel economy would be 54.5 mpg by 2025

Please let me just live in ignorant bliss. ;)

The MR2 Spyder is dimensionally similar, mid-engine and 2195lbs. That’s pretty light. I can knock about 40lbs by removing the spare tire, tools, and tub. I can also save about 25lbs with lighter wheels.  That’d bring me down to 2130lbs. The Exige was about 2020lbs. Not too far off.

It’s a shame that it was a market failure. I think a lot of people saw a fairly weird looking little car with 138hp and dismissed it. I’ve never driven anything this lightweight. It’s pure fun.

I haven’t driven the 2zz/c60 transmission, but it would be a big improvement over the 1zz feel. I’m leaning towards the Integra Type R (JDM RSX) K20a. It has a great transmission with LSD.

Yes, power and availability of parts. It also seems like a more interesting/unique project too. People make really big power on the k-series, but I think around 250whp NA would be plenty.

I’ve really noticed the smaller numbers in the online forums. My bimmers, s2000, and Miata all had so much information available online. Things like proper wheel fitment were just givens. There doesn’t seem to be consensus on what fits the MR2 and that’s pretty frustrating. This all also makes me realize how much I
