If I’m reading this correctly, you’re talking more about predictive text then?

I think this is a huge part of it. It’s not just direct conversion from ads that matter, but impressions are huge.

This has been all I could think about. He was diagnosed 4 years ago with stage THREE cancer. And he still found the strength to give us all that he has.

But, tbh, play the games. You can get them dirt cheap on PC now.

I think you’re asking something from the article that it wasn’t trying to provide. It feels clear to me that Calhoun wasn’t trying to convince anyone to abandon Goodreads, he was just trying to highlight the alternatives for those who would like one.

The problem is that a giant showing anti-compete behavior is also problematic. All of Epic’s competing platforms also charge 30%. Only TWO of them allow for direct installation of apps (Android, Windows).

I think the problem in this case is that Epic’s being disingenuous about what they’re suing about.

The huge uphill battle Epic is going to likely have is that 30% is market standard. Epic pays 30% to the PS Store, Nintendo Store, etc. So they’ll need a good argument for why APPLE’s 30% take, specifically, is anti-competitive.

I’m trying to be very clear here - Apple is a MONSTER of a company.

I generally prefer physical, I suppose.

Sorry, correction. It’s not licensing feels for Epic’s store. They’re a 12% to games, and if you engineered using Unreal, they’ll waive the 5% fee that applies to Unreal-based game sales which those devs would need to pay on all other platforms.

Except it’s not, at all.

Fixed fees would overwhelmingly bias in favor of massive developers.

Listen, Apple is a monster of a company.

No, it would be akin to Walmart allowing a print shop to set up inside their stores, on the condition that they share 30% of their revenue from those in-store sales, and then the print shop setting up a separate PoS to hide all those sales from Walmart.

It actually helps their case?

A. Microsoft ultimately won the case for including internet explorer, when the initial judge’s ruling was successfully appealed, and they settled with the DoJ by agreeing to share its API with developers, to give them theoretically equal access to integrate into Windows that Microsoft had with IE.

While inflation does happen, wages have been abominably stagnant in the past 14 years in many, many countries.

Who knew something so not sexy could do something so very, very sexy

I want to paint all of these!!
