Oh, piss off with all that. This is piracy, and you’re blaming the company for it. Don't pull shit like that to try to justify it.

They didn’t sell Banjo Kazooie. They never bought up Rare, having only owned a minority stake in the studio, so Banjo went with them when Microsoft bought them out. Same with all of Rare’s other IP like Perfect Dark.

Your first statement is right on the money (or how much Nintendo lost) with the Wii U, but your second statement is obviously talking out of your butt.  Nintendo did everything in their power to keep the Switch from being known up until just 5 or 6 months before it launched.

Actually this would be great. You play as a randon Marvel hero each run, you unlock other heroes, the ability to switch heroes at points in a run, you’d need some level ups that would carry over between heroes. But it could be a blast. Maybe even make the visual style a hommage to Xmen games of yore like X-Men Clone

Well you’re wrong. That’s Nintendo’s property, being stolen and given away for free. There’s no ideological connection to the act. It’s to prevent resale and distribution, not to destroy. People can be so damn dramatic.

Exactly this.

Capitalism is freaking out in general over the way Millennials and younger are doing everything. They’re tired of it, and the wealthy people at the top are freaking out. Ads don’t work, traditional brands and service models are being rejected, people are tired of being paid shit wages, cars aren’t being bought, houses

I’d say Nintendo is more controlling than greedy. They’ll happily leave a ton of money on the table if they think they’d have to ease their iron grip on one of their IPs.

WOTC really needs to buy out or contract Resolution games to make DnD VR a reality, with all the art/lore/assets behind them.

The really easy methods would require some form of DRM, which some folks might not like. But it would be super easy.

i think this ridiculous pearl-clutching attitude is unique to gaming, but i might be wrong and i’d love other examples. why in the WORLD would you not only not expect, but be furious when they respond litigiously, a company to protect their IP?

Remember kids, video game developers are not about your fun...they are about your wallet.

It’s in the regular Fender shop on the Fender Japan site, hence my apparent confusion.

Except Apple doesn’t give two fucks about policing morals, they’re simply trying to make a rhetorical point about Epic’s trustworthiness.

My personal fear is that this becomes a Spotify situation where it’s impossible for smaller devs to make money without supplemental content, like smaller musicians need to tour and sell vinyls.

You either die a Metroidvania developer, or you live long enough to become an action-RPG-with-random-dungeons developer.

An American game studio succeeded. I feel like the barrier of making a decent video game movie should be higher than making a movie set in Japan, but I guess we’ll see.

We get it, you vape.

They absolutely are loot boxes. Maybe Pokemon Go’s implementation of loot boxes aren’t as predatory as other games, but fundamentally they are still loot boxes. The fact that you don’t “need” to buy them doesn’t stop them being lootboxes. That’s the same in a lot of F2P games where you can grind lootboxes through play.

Very bad take.
