They just seem like pathetic momma's boys to me. The kind of virginal boys that make forts with "no girls allowed" signs but all they really hope for is a girl to love them.

I'd even twerk to "Moves Like Jagger" while wearing a Cubs jersey and one of those Green Bay Packer Cheesehead things.

There was a small study done within the last five years that showed that comprehensive sex ed was more effective in preventing sex than abstinence only education - because it gave kids the real knowledge they needed to come to a logical conclusion about the very real dangers of having intercourse. Imagine that. It

Just want to put another comment in here to make sure we co-opt those who would take a beautiful moment and turn it into bitterness. This is beautiful. Her emotion was beautiful and the family time we are witnessing is beautiful. I hope that our faith in humanity can be restored by not seeing any insults and not

Picture fail. He was handsome. Trust me.

Steamed cheeseburgers? The only people who like steamed cheeseburgers live in the God foresaken town of Meriden. The rest of us prefer pizza. The proper pizza, as God intended it.

Preach, sister.

I totally agree with you. No way do I discount what happened to Elizabeth, but you cannot compare 9 months to 18 years + 2 children. I would go in hiding too.

Did you read "Room"? We need to get a copy into the Jezebel writer's hands.

I don't know if the article was meant to say one story is "better" than the other, but I do think the phrasing the author chose to use was a bit problematic.

Yeah, I clicked this article expecting something uplifting and positive and instead it was kind of a weirdly snarky and negative article. The line about people "who don't just read People" connecting to Eizabeth felt weird too (although clearly not as troubling as the line that she could have "become a Jaycee Dugard.")

Here's what people are perceiving as snark:

Yes! This. Thank you! This riled me up enough to make an account and give you the biggest cheer for calling this article's offensive bias out. Argh, so infuriating!

Agreed. I don't understand the vitriol directed at her by this author and some of the other commenters. Is she somehow wrong for choosing to deal with her situation in a completely different way? Are women like her and Gina DeJesus etc any less courageous or deserving of admiration because they choose not to engage

Recommended 100 times. How an article starting out praising Elizabeth Smart could turn out to be so disgustingly unnecessary is quite a feat.

Also, Smart's abduction lasted nine months and Duggard's lasted eighteen years. I'm not trying to minimize what Smart went through because it was horrific beyond my comprehension and she's made incredible strides since then, but the two situations were very different.

I hope after I graduate, once my loans are paid off, I can save enough to buy a pair.

hahahah I'm just thinking about the stupid stereotype that women are supposed to be lovely, dainty flowers who don't poo or fart or if they do, men like to think they don't.

IF ONLY THEY KNEW, IF ONLY. THE SHIT THAT COMES OUT OF US, FROM ALL ENDS.

Seriously, I have no clue how women are able to go about day-to-day business with all of the things that happen in their bodies. Hell, I call it a crappy day and start whining if I have a head cold.
