So how come you can buy a Tesla or IPhone in China, but you are not allowed to buy a BYD or Huawei phone in the US? We have less freedom of choice and more paranoia here in the US than in China. That is certainly a bad thing.

First of all, if communism really makes companies so competitive then we should all adopt communism.

If it’s a known issue and the failure mode is well known, I would expect there to be some kind of permanent fix- like shrink-wrapping the whole connector to keep moisture out. Pretty much every enthusiast car has at least one of these foibles.

It’s not all a matter of financial literacy. There was a period of time in 2021-2022 when you walked into a car dealer and the first question you asked was ‘So.... what is the surcharge on this one?’. If you needed a car during that time you paid what you had to pay, which was $2k -$8k over MSRP. My mother’s car got

The average selling price is $48k. That doesn’t mean the median selling price is $48k. The median is going to be much lower. The average is higher because the high end is stretched out by the expensive cars where sky is the limit.

Hell, most everyone is underwater on their car loan the moment they drive their new car off the lot

This one looks WAY cooler than the Cyber Fruck. I’m not feeling the chrome hand rails in the back, but aside from that the design is spot on.

Agreed. The Prius V was a wonderful thing. They should have continued it.

The 3D scanning technology is just insane! But while they are at it, shouldn’t they be scanning these early Celicas:

If you want to lower your car, get shorter springs

Of course. Don’t bolt lead plates to your passenger seat to make your Miata 2400 lbs !

if someone hit my car, I’d want them to pay something too

or d) the cop is a douche

In 99.995% of rear end accidents, there is no traffic ticket given even when it is clear that the person doing the rear-ending was at fault (which is almost 100% of the cases).  The fact that the other party claims from your insurance and causes your insurance premium to go up, is punishment enough. In fact I’d rather

I think the best guide to how and where to modify your car, is to see how the factory does it. You can’t go wrong by putting factory go-fast parts into your own car.

Wouldn’t that be more wagon than hatch?

There were lots of hot hatches made. The great majority of them never came to these shores.

I remember when the Jeep Gladiator first came out. People were lining up to pay $10k over MSRP to get one of those. Two years later they were all sitting on the lots for months.

Not just Elon Musk. The other Tesla employees also don’t seem to care much for the privacy of Tesla owners. So any one of them could brick your car for LOLz.

I think they are going for 1874.
