That would have been a great car to revive. Large engine bay, simple RWD layout with sedan, coupe, wagon and truck bodies.

What is up with the toxic sludge green goo and the bright purple sealant? Did the Joker build this battery?

I can live without it if I had to, but the option that has really made my life easier is the hands-free tail gate.

Yeah. In the olden days you could always upgrade the stereo with aftermarket pieces so there was no need to pay extra for factory ‘premium audio’. Nowadays everything is so integrated you have no good way to upgrade the factory stereo yourself. And the factory ‘base’ audio systems are uniformly trash so you have no

I’d probably pay money to not have that potentially costly source of trouble, leakage and breakage. And in the case of VW’s and Tesla’s- there is no screen to block the sun in the summer and it can get toasty hot under the sun.

The 360 degree top view cameras are best. I regret not getting that when I was custom ordering my BMW F31 wagon.

It has never worked well for me. It always leave too much of a gap with the car in front and other people would cut in and the adaptive cruise will slam on the brakes hard. Also, on the uphill sections it will try too hard to catch up.

Some people don’t want to or don’t have 6 hours to waste on driving. Sleeper trains have a definite place in the world.

Hold on- so this is not coming to the US? What is the point of Jalopnik reviewing this car then?  Just to show us all the good stuff we are missing?

The American market Passat has been pretty bland for the last 2 generations already. But having said that this wagon is not bad. The one thing I would change though, are the wheels.

They actually went through the trouble of machining the gold into these mechanical looking pieces! I bet they swept the floor very carefully afterwards.

Yeah. Owning an RV is like owning a boat. Sounds fun but it’s a horrible idea. And for similar reasons. Most RV’s are made with fiberglass layered over plywood. Over time water will seep into the plywood and cause wood rot and then you get the characteristic soft floor or sagging panels. Same with boats that has
