Maybe they’ll develop generic replacement cells which can go into any battery pack. So you just drop your battery and get it rebuilt.

Also, if the screen dies, is the car still driveable?

None of the electric vehicles I’ve driven (several Teslas, a Mach E, and an I.D.4) had anything approaching the individuality

Seems like their biggest problem is the ‘3 year leasing cycle’. What idiotic tax law is responsible for that state of affiars?

Oh crap. Mr Bean has taken the red pill too?

Don’t you just hate people who say a bunch of empty words but refuse to give you solid facts? They sent out this nice long letter to their customers telling them there is some unnamed ‘customs issues’, without once mentioning the specifics of a sanctioned Belarus chip being the culprit.

True, once it sits it starts to grab moisture from the air. This is a big problem with the ethanol mixed gas.

Yup. Just like after 2009 or so, I have not met one single person who admitted to supporting GW Bush, or the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, although he and his wars were actually pretty popular during his time in office.

Not even a smart dictator at that. A low grade time-share salesman.

You didn’t factor in the depreciation of the ID.4 though.

Do you drive your own car?

More like he earned $37k but was taxed on $20k. Except for the 12.4% Social Security and 2.9% Medicare tax (self employed rates = exactly double the rate of an employee of a company), which is calculated off of the full amount of $37k.

You mean 38% profit margin for Uber?

$1k for tires is very normal for modern cars. We’re not talking about a Corolla with 175SR/14 tires

A 400k car will need repairs. So 13k is not too surprising. During the first year the repair costs should be much lower, but the depreciation cost is much higher. So the math still pencils out the same way.

Yup. And don’t forget, since he is ‘self employed’, his social security tax is 12.4% instead of 6.2% for employees of a company.

He made about $37,200 excluding depreciation, because as you said the car is basically worthless. BUT keep in mind that that is only true for this year. Next year he may very well have to buy a new(er) car which would depreciate rapidly that first year.
