As someone who had a German engine total a car pre 100k miles because of a single poorly designed gear idk what that person is going on about. A $50 gear costing $5000 to replace in a car worth $5000 sounds exactly like the maintenance bullshit Teslas have.

It’s an income stream that adds value to the home! Rent them out for $1000+ a month. See it all the time in LA. Dystopian nightmare,  this city.

Alternatively, when does a RV become a mobile home so they can assess those sweet property taxes on it in addition to the amount you pay to store it most of the year?

Imagine being such a worry wort that you call the cops on someone just because they're doing something you're too timid to dare to try.

It’s the biggest premier that they’ve had to handle on the service so not really surprising that it didn’t work well at first.

The HHR crowd. This thing is basically an HHR (but VW van based) with slide doors.

It looked a lot better from the front. Cadillac ass vibes in the back.

From your last photo I believe you’ve routed your chain incorrectly through the derailleur and it’s probably rubbing in your larger gears.

But if he did it this way he wouldn’t be able to write an article 2 months from now about how his derailleur hanger was too thin and brittle and broke while riding because his chain was tensioned 1 link too tight...

Derailleur cages are disposable parts that get replaced frequently after rock hits bend them on mountain bikes. They’re not expensive.

Felt the same way about the first time I saw a rivian IRL. Always thought they looked fucky online, but in person I can see the draw.

That’s not his Endurance though - they just used a white beta (alpha maybe) for the photo shoots. He has a themed beta that’s a black/orange one:

I kinda like that AM General one.

Yeah I want to know more about it. This post would have worked better on Gawker.

Figured I'd follow up now that it's done! Only thing missing is the decal on the rear tire which I'm going to try to with your inkjet tip, so thanks for that!

Yeah as long as it doesn’t continue the grand tradition of getting prettier and less useful at the same time I don’t care.

It’s Elon’s dream truck, which is why he was always driving the Alpha around LA. Once he gets his truck they’ll start ‘improving’ the design to make it production, consumer, and regulation friendly. Tesla mentioned that the truck is 1M a pop at the moment, so without either massive scale or massive redesign it isn't

The green is incredible! I don’t know why Ibis doesn’t use that color on their modern lines anymore. I leaned into it - I have lime green pedals, presta valves, and grips that I’m going to install. I may at some point strip the rims and repaint them green as well - Mavic paint is super thin and prone to exposing the

I’m in the process of restoring a newer classic, an Ibis Mojo SL. These things helped kick off the carbon frame long travel revolution, but boy are they money sinks to fix up. So far I’ve put about a grand into it. Replaced the aging drivetrain, got a new freehub (DT Swiss is amazing - they still sell stuff that fits

I kind of love that foldable one, especially if they make a tiny tripod stand so I can bring it places and have it up a few inches to save my neck.
