EWWW. A guy I know (notice how I didn’t say “a friend”) in his late 30s recently said he only looks for women “under 30" on dating sites, because he wants to have kids, and he thinks once they hit 30, women are too old for that.

Hollywood casting guidelines stipulate that if an actor and an actress are the same age, the actress is eligible to portray the actor’s mother only.

I’m 39 and apparently that means I should have my preferences on dating sites set to “55+.”

That’s kind of a bummer, because for whatever reason, Kirsten Dunst just aggravates me.

That’s kind of the point though. Male actors can be cast for their skill (Macguire looks old but can play innocent school boy) but female actors can’t.

You’re probably right. According to the 7 different men, ages 38-57, I went on dates with this year who told me that at 34 (now 35...ugh) I am ok to sleep with but too old to actually date, women over 30 are expired. As one put it “women age like milk, men age like scotch.”

This. I’m fine with them casting an 18-yr old for a high school kid. And back then I was SUPER into Kristen Dunst. She was just really popular at the time. But Tobey Maguire always looked old. He was ‘young-looking’ for his age. Really wish Hollywood would stop trying to pass off old dudes as hot young things.

I still can’t get over Angelina Jolie being cast as Colin Farrell’s mum in “Alexander.” There was what, a year between them and they were banging in real life? WTF?

Right? But a grown ass man could play a dweeby high schooler no problem

At least they got it right eventually with Tom Holland.

And yet honestly being too old for the role didn’t stop them from casting Maguire....
