That is 100% true. Fortunately hydrogen is not a liquid and can be compressed to higher than 1 bar (14.7 psi). The Mirai carries 5.65 kg of hydrogen because it is compressed to 10,000 psi. 5.65 kg of hydrogen is equivalent to about 15 gallons of gas (in energy). My 2014 Mustang only carried 12 gallons of gas. So the

What is your point? So you admit that hydrogen can be used as a fuel since you acknowledge that there are real cars running on real hydrogen? At no point do I claim that hydrogen powered cars will be widespread. I was just challenging that it can’t be used as a fuel as your ‘calculations’ suggest.

First, at no point did I say hydrogen would be widely adopted. Please go back and look at all my statements on this and you will not find anywhere where I actually advocate for its use. I straight up say in my first post that it is not economically viable right now.

What are you talking about? Hydrogen is already a fuel. Both Honda and Toyota have made and sold (leased actually) real hydrogen powered cars (fuel cells not ICE). Honda had the FCX Clarity that was produced for a few years, and Toyota currently (since 2014) makes the Mirai. Not to mention the other hydrogen fuel

Maybe they should report the median number too.

Carbon neutral* alternative fuels are not a myth. They are just too expensive. There is the eFuel Porsche is helping make. And that is not vaporware...this is currently being produced. Way too expensive for wide-scale use however. But still not a myth. And then there is green hydrogen...aka hydrogen produced not from

I had a Tyco Typhoon RC hovercraft as a kid. Loved that thing.

Yes. But I don’t know how many times I have forgot to take my brush and/or gloves out of the car and bring them into work with a pending storm. The car usually doesn’t get iced up at work so that isn’t a problem but I have lost count of how many times I need to use my bare hands to clear snow from around the door so I

I mostly agree that the timing is not ideal. Though I wasn’t exactly saying to go out and buy a house this instant.

No argument from me there.

Not gonna argue with this take.

I mention that China is not communist lower down.

You do you man, but why stop being smart with money now? Invest some of that money and/or use it to put toward a house (if you value home ownership) or other non-depreciating asset that you fancy. Plenty of 20, 30 or 40k cars that check your boxes and then in the future you will be able to buy whatever you want having

A little surprised the Toybaru twins aren’t here. Seems like they would have similar satisfaction as the Miata.

Correct take. But Toyota could afford to be more conservative because of their dominance. Compare with GM + Ford who ran a real risk of getting left behind if they didn’t do anything. Though they still probably shouldn’t have gone ‘all in’ like they have (especially GM). Fortunately for them gas prices are still low

I agree that the semantics don’t matter to your point, but they do matter in general. I am not accusing you of the following, but it is important nonetheless to be accurate in our descriptions. There are too many people out there decrying things as ‘communist’ or ‘socialist’ when they are anything but. Largely they

Economically, Cuba is socialist (government controls the means of production), not communist. It is ‘communist’ in name only in that its self described ‘Communist Party’ is the only party allowed to exist and is the source of all power in the country (totalitarianism). Sure they may expose Marxist views or even

Cuba = Communist with a big ‘C’ in that it is one-party rule where said party is the source of all governmental, professional, and social activity. Like China, you want to get ahead, you must be in the party. Not in the party means you are nothing/marginalized. Oppose the party and find yourself at best in prison. In

When I travel (work or on my own) and don’t need a car to get around (public transit and/or walking suffice) and I am always pleasantly surprised how much I don’t miss driving. And I am someone who loves driving (duh).

Lifelong Quattroporte fan here. I like articles like this because they prevent me, whether justified or not, from trying to seek one (aka saving me from myself). Your statement of ‘2011-2012 QP’, ‘with a ZF box’ is the pick of the bunch is not helpful in further dissuading me from ever buying one (lol).
