You are correct. Makes sense on the race car. I erred in typing ‘GT40'. Meant the Ford GT, as written and shown in the article.

Basically, every door design is some sort of compromise between complexity and usability with no perfect solution. Regular doors are simple, but open into other cars when parked and injure bicyclists. Gullwing doors solve the parking issue but are complicated. Scissor doors are somewhere in between, but make it…
We can easily, but not quickly, go through the chain of events that led to the US being dependent on Musk for space travel. But we have always been dependent on private enterprise for space travel. NASA has never built rockets themselves. I know it’s a movie, but you go back and watch Apollo 13 and they turn to ‘The…
I agree that the Passport doesn’t make sense relative to the Pilot. But also the regular Highlander now doesn’t make sense relative to the Grand Highlander. If you really want something slight smaller than the larger versions, it feels like you are leaving something on the table if you are basically paying the same…
I know it’s only anecdotal, but the MT82 in my 2014 Mustang GT was fine. Other than feeling a little ‘crunchy’ at like 20-25 degF (surprisingly fine at lower temps) no complaints over 120k miles. Reliable, shifted fine. Didn’t abuse it, but didn’t baby it either.

If I were 10 years old now, it would probably be the Bugatti Chiron.
I personally like these and if I had the money, would buy one.
Or just being nice. Truck driver comes by. Porsche is stuck. Porsche driver tells sob story (aka lies). Truck driver agrees to try to help them out.
But keep in mind that the value of a vehicle and the cost of repairs plays a lot into how long it stays on the road. If a car is worth a lot and/or you are still paying for it, you are more likely to repair it than a car that is not worth much. And obviously low repair costs help keeps vehicles on the road longer.…
I could go on and on about the pro/cons or winter tires given the various types of drives as it pertains to the Boston area. Bottom line there is no one correct solution. But yeah AWD + winter tires = phenomenal traction. FWD + winter tires = good traction. RWD + winter tires = ok traction.
That’s why I only said that I ‘kinda’ feel bad. LOL.
I kinda feel bad for the driver of the truck. I guarantee the people in the Porsche never a) warned the truck driver that driving in the mud was illegal despite just being told so and b) that the NPS had already arrived once and was coming back soon-ish. And if a + b are true, they obviously wouldn’t have told them…
I agree that the benefits of AWD are overstated. It’s why none of the cars I have bought living in the Boston area have been AWD. But to say that it provides no benefit is equally mythic. Plenty of instances in my experience in even just rain (especially with the ‘the road is super greasy because it hasn’t rained in…
Wow. You are completely wrong.
The Mazda6 Wagon that is offered on other countries. But not because i hate it, but because I love it. I am tired of the forbidden fruit. Tired of seeing pictures of it. Just kill it so I can stop forlornly wishing I could legally obtain one.
I think this is essentially Toyota’s stance. And maybe Stellantis too with the Ramcharger. Can’t wait to see how the Ramcharger stacks up against the Lightning/SilveradoEV. Not that I care about Ram/Stellantis, but from an engineering standpoint. I think the plug-in hybrid for trucks might make the most sense, but we…
They have talked about doing this. But the combination of complexity/weight/reliability is a huge concern. We should just give every ~6th passenger a card that says that in the event of an emergency you get to punch any shithead in the face (but not hard enough to knock them out) if they try to get their belongings.
‘There’s class warfare, all right, but it’s my class, the rich class, that’s making war, and we’re winning’ - Warren Buffet.
I don’t have time to look it up, but I believe the worse case of this was in Russia. Like 10s of people needlessly died because people were busy grabbing their shit.
