There are many instances of plane crashes where passengers stopped to get their belongings out of overhead bins, thus dooming their fellow passengers to horrific deaths. The fact that this didn’t occur here tells you all you need to know about the people on board that plane. I am not willing to make generalizations

Back then I wanted a BMW M3. Still do want that era M3. Cliche, I know. But what can I say.

My first car (in 1998) was a circa ‘86 LeBaron. Besides the cigarette burns in the seats (from previous owner) and the completely shot shocks, it was a decent car for a high school student to drive around. I did try to slide across the hood once, but got caught in the louvers and sorta dented the hood. Oops.

I wonder if the soft demand for this vehicle (especially when compared to a Telluride) is because of the poor state of the charging infrastructure, so far, in the US. This is ostensibly a ‘family vehicle’ and deservedly marketed as such. Since a lot of people buy these to have the capability (whether actually used or

Your headline stating ‘82 Percent Of Norwegian Cars Are Now Fully Electric’ is misleading. Reuters has it correct... “Electric vehicles accounted for 82.4% of new vehicles sold in 2023"

Unarmed (presumably...doesn’t actually say) individual posing no immediate (once immobilized) threat to the public = let’s go in as fast and strong as we can.

I always wanted one of these. Not sure I can explain exactly why however. But I would rather have the manual transmission version, though maybe ‘94s only had the auto?

Agree about the status symbol, but disagree about buying new cars. But I only disagree with regard to ‘regular’ cars (aka Civics, Rav4s, Subarus, etc.) since they have not terrible depreciation. If you want to minimize the hassle of dealing with car repair, by maximizing the factory warranty length, then the costs

I agree. I think this is a perfect case for a market based approach. Whether it is a carbon tax that prices in market externalities or cap-and-trade.

100% correct. But should all energy cost/be taxed the same? Should trucks carrying food from farms to grocery stores be charged the same taxes for fuel as trucks carrying spotlights to Taylor Swift shows? Should the electricity supplied to hospitals and schools be the same rate as the electricity used to power the

While I think the criticism of her using a private jet is somewhat valid, I am not sure the criticism of the amount of energy her tour trucks use is fair game. There are easy alternatives to private jet travel (commercial), but what is the alternative for her tour? I am not sure her tour is more egregious than any

In defense of ITG...

I will definitely have to check out ‘Framing John DeLorean’.

Nope.

I have one thing to say about horns. DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT, honk your horn at runners (joggers) who are just running down the sidewalk. Granted there are assholes out there doing this for asshole-y reasons, but then there are people who I think are doing this as some sort of encouragement or something. If you

This is an excellent point. And it’s one that we have already seen with regards to tires (the weight of EVs cause higher pollution from tires).

You beat me to citing the inflation adjusted numbers. But I do take issue with your ‘Pre 2019 we were spoiled, expecting things to be cheap and easily available’. There are plenty of reasonably priced cars out there. Sounding like a broken record but a Civic or a Forester are still good buys. A base 2018 Forester

I am going to bring up the two ‘Driven’ movies.

Are PHEVs more expensive than BEVs? The Rav4 Prime is about the same price as the bZ4X. And I have no doubt Toyota is a) losing money on the bZ4X and b) has adjusted the Prime price up to claw back some of the ‘market adjustments’ from their dealers. Though maybe this isn’t the best example since the bZ4X sucks.

I imagine it must have helped the Air Force too. For all the ‘yeah I want to fly planes, but being crammed on a ship for weeks/months on end is less appealing than an air base’ folks.
