A few years ago, Enterprise randomly gave me a 300 (not a 300C) with super low miles for a rental car despite me selecting a compact. Had it for a whole week. I really liked it.

I am not sure you understand how insurance works.
I am going to play devil’s advocate here (I honestly don’t have an opinion), but let’s assume that what everyone is saying is true, that the insurance companies are running some sort of scam here, where they are inflating their losses relative to what people are paying. What is the benefit to them to not insure people…
I never said anything about vehicles on lots. My comment was in response to someone commenting on production. At no point has any CEO said that they will target less than full production to keep prices high.
This is exactly right. Someone one day was saying to me that car manufacturers would see how supply constraints increased prices and thus in the future would continue this. But unless they all colluded, the manufacturer(s) that could ramp back up sooner than anyone would be the winner(s)...high supply with high prices…
Same here. Straight white male living in suburban Boston. All of my interactions with the police have been civil, no drama affairs. The 3 times I was pulled over, I deserved it. Police didn’t give me any crap. Just gave me my ticket/warning and I was on my way (possibly because while I deserved them, I wasn’t exactly…
Anyone else see this patent from Ford…
Couldn’t agree more. I frequent Gillette stadium (Mass resident).
Guitar Center to me is what probably car dealerships are to regular (not car enthusiast) people. I know just enough about guitars, amps, etc to have some idea of what I am talking about, but I am far from an expert. So the intimidation factor is strong. Also, I am a rather poor guitar player (mostly just mess around…
I agree with all you just said. Was gonna mention the Belt and Road (my mind always reads it as Belt and Suspenders).
You are correct. That would be fascist. Misread your post.
What’s fascist now? Democratically elected officials passing and enforcing laws that you don’t like is not fascism.
Yes. There are market inefficiencies related to tariffs. They are much better now, but historically it’s not like China has been an honest broker with regards to free trade. They have manipulated their currency, they have dumped steel and aluminum, had import tariffs of their own, had nearly non-existent worker…
Yes. I do want America protected from America. Absolutely right....but that is another discussion. Let’s call it America vs ‘America’ where America is the ideal that it supposedly is and we are constantly trying to achieve through progress, vs ‘America’ as defined by what those who claim to be patriots and want to…
I agree that China is not communist, hence the large ‘C’ in front of Communist in my take. And by that I mean that the ‘Communist party’ is the source of all social and political life in the country. Bow down to the dear leader and the Communist party or be irrelevant.
By this logic we should never do anything ever to solve any problems that are hard. ‘World isn’t ready for (insert possible solution), so let’s do nothing about (insert huge problem).’
1st Gear: I’m personally fine with the US protecting our car industry (and those of other liberal democratic states) from the authoritarian-ruled, human-rights dodging, big-brother-esque, saber rattling, Communist (with a large ‘C’), country that is China. Or any other country of similar bent. Did I mention the…
Top of my list. This is either the worst ‘great’ car, or the best ‘bad’ car of all time. It’s just barley on one side of that great/bad line, but not sure which.
I think quality is the key here. My concern stems from stories like this...
1st Gear: Serious question: What do we think of Chinese EVs? Are they any good or are they crap? For years we heard about how Chinese car companies would someday come to the US with their ICE cars. But that never happened because frankly they weren’t good enough. Will they be able to have any more success with EVs?
