I don’t think this is a controversial take even among to most ardent EV supporters (or at least ones that act as serious adults). There are plenty of Americans where an EV just won’t work yet.

Mazda6 Wagon. Though it looks like the only places where you can get the turbo engine is in RHD countries. So while technically they may not sell LHD wagons with the turbo, I am going with that. Alas, I don’t think there are any countries where you can get the turbo with a manual.
Not too much longer (winter solstice) before the days start getting longer. But sunsets actually start getting later at the end of this week. Unfortunately, sunrises also get later, but more later (laterer?) than the sunsets so we continue the decline. So for those that like to do stuff in the afternoon this is…
I agree that winter tires are the way to go, but there are some all-seasons out there that are pretty damn good in the snow. Possibly worth it if you are willing to compromise on the warm/dry weather capabilities. The problem is that I don’t think any car manufacturers are putting these on their cars. In general OE…
Oh yeah, the intent was ‘a thread’. No disagreement there.
But isn’t ‘thread’ an acceptable, in common usage, plural of thread? In lieu of ‘threads’? If I walked into a fabric store and wanted more than one spool of thread, I wouldn’t say ‘Do you have spools of threads’? I would say ‘spools of thread’. Also, I wouldn’t ask for ‘a spool of a thread’ for one spool. It’s ‘spool…
Giant snow banks you can’t see around/over. Problem for everyone. People pulling out of driveways and side streets. People on main roads encountering people pulling out of driveways and side streets. Both techniques...the slow creep or the ‘I’m just gonna go and hope no one is hauling ass down the street’, are equally…
Google ‘Space saver Boston’. Time honored tradition. Should probably have its own Wikipedia page.
You will find this shocking, but Virginia and New Hampshire don’t have a car insurance requirement. Someone below says that Michigan doesn’t either, but the ol’ internet doesn’t seem to support that.
A little confused since the old Google says that only Virginia and NH don’t require insurance, but the article you reference supports this claim.
I agree with your point. One reason for this idea (insurance based) was to appeal to those who (allegedly) like to keep the government small. So free enterprise it is. The insurance companies would of course be competing, so there would be incentive to keep the costs down. And of course there would be some regulation…
Here is my idea..feel free to poke holes in it (not being sarcastic, I want to scrutinize it)...
I’m glad the Jeep Wrangler is on here. This will further help the rational side of my brain defeat the irrational side and it’s desire for one.
On my list of greatest action movies I have ‘Fury Road’ at number 2, behind ‘Terminator 2’. Looking forward to ‘Furiosa’ but I don’t think it has a chance of matching the greatness of ‘Fury Road’. Also, seems to have a lot more CGI than ‘Fury Road’
First, it’s basically useless to argue with these folks. You know they aren’t interested in serious debate when 1) they feel the need to use insults to make their point. That is what middle-schoolers do. And 2) when they somehow relate driving a car to abortion. Yup, deciding what speed to drive to work can be equated…
I think this is what gets lost somewhat for average F1 fans. Especially the newer ones. The engineering involved is so massive that is hard sometimes to even wrap your head around it. They spend millions designing just winglets and then there are all the simulations, calculations, wind tunnel work.
When I lived in Boston like 18 years ago, the G35 was indeed the ride of choice around Boston University. But then it quickly became Maseratis. Not sure what it is now. Probably those ridiculous grilled performance BMWs (SUVs and cars).
Proud Masshole here.
IPO in 2010? Hasn’t GM been around a lot longer than that?
You mean single issue ‘fascism’. Regulation of roads/cars is not fascism. You may not like it, it may be antithetical to our American values, but it is not fascism if democratically elected officials enact these regulations. Driving is not a right. Hell if we got together as a society (through our democratically…
