A company’s commitment to safety must be subject to... rather a lot of scrutiny when their employees resort to urinating in bottles, buckling their seat belts behind their backs, and driving down the sidewalk to meet their “quotas” for the day.

It wasn’t even a driving course, it was just flat out normal school, probably middle, but there was an educational video with car crashes and a dudes head straight up through the windshield with Phil Collins-In the Air Tonight playing in the background and I still think about that shit whenever I hear that song.

That’s tough when just about any modern car is capable of darn quick 0-60 times. That driver could have done 100mph in the same space in a 30-year old full sized truck. 

Driving is a paid privilege. Not a right. Mandate it and have the private party interested in driving pay for it totally. Mandate re-testing every 1, 3, and 5 years with every 5 years after to keep habits good and drivers everywhere safe and up to date. 

This. Zero Tolerance just doesn’t work. It just fucks people over to the point that they have no options other than crime. It literally breeds criminals.

Apart from anything else one-and-done laws don’t tend to discourage crime, they actually encourage it. If you are gonna be permanently banned or jailed, criminals tend to go big to make it worth it. Honest question from a curious idiot: How many cars do teams build for a season, given the likelihood of crashes? And how often are crashed cars repaired and put back into service? Can they even do that, given how carbon fiber tends to crack and splinter?

The same is true for education. I’ve seen enough brilliant people who didn’t go to college and enough thundering fools brandishing PhDs to think that has anything to do with how smart someone is.

I’d also like to add that I’m far less likely to buy any sort of “Artificial Intelligence” product from a company whose CEO is demonstrating an abject lack of any intelligence whatsoever.
