Golems are creatures of tragedy. Nearly every mythic legend and story of them tends to end poorly for them and possibly everyone around them. I understand a sort of direct retelling might be interesting, but it would kind of feel like telling a story where the monkey's paw (surprise!) ended up granting wishes against
