Yeah, they need to add people who fail to use turn signals and idiots who don't move over after passing.
Jesus, I thought CA was bad. And jail for speeding is bullshit.
I think she is a symbol of hope for a lot of survivors, and I wish that what your friend did for you brought you peace and comfort. It doesn't sound trite at all. When justice and society fail you, having a symbol for your cause and friends to support you can be almost validating.
I love her. A friend managed to get her to autograph one of her blank journals that she sold on her site at the time. It was addressed to me, with a "God Bless". Her character on SVU had really helped me to deal with my own sexual assault. I know it sounds trite, but you are correct in that she is amazing.
It's amazing because Mariska has admitted that she had no idea HOW SEVERE the problem was before SVU. And then she was just gutted after the show gained momentum because rape victims would write to her to say thank you, or because they felt like they could trust her to be the ONLY person they spoke about their rape…
She really is awesome, and so are the prosecutors and support workers who get this job done. I love it when people take their professional experiences and do something good with it. Yes, she's an actor, but she's standing up for her principles and the principles she embodies for many people. Unfortunately, it often…
The only person who can take care of you is you. There are no victims here. Consenting adults made a choice to have sex and not use common sense and use protection. He lied to them. People lie all the time. You don't trust someone's word about not having an STD, especially if you don't know them and they are having…
This isn't blaming as much as it is a plea for people to use common sense. I mean, come on.
I completely disagree that someone shouldn't have to disclose their HIV status if they don't want to. That's irresponsible and unfair to the other person. Even if the chance of transmission is 1%, the person with HIV doesn't get to make that choice for his partner.
You're wrong. HIV especially can be and is used as a weapon.
Would you say the same thing about someone who has herpes? If they aren't in an outbreak and on meds then are they not responsible to disclose it? Because I'd want to know. I've been off the sex market for a long time granted, but when I was single and having casual sex, even though I always used condoms I would have…
We're demonizing lying scumbags who intentionally harmed other people, not HIV+ folks in general. If you can't figure that difference out, you have a problem.
do we REALLY need to add asterisks and clauses to things that should be painfully obvious when taken in context? Also: there are female condoms. Lesbians (I am one of these FYI) also use male condoms, cutting them for use as dental dams. Stop being so nitpicky and smug, please.
Oh, Jeez. Here: THIS GUY IS EVIL AND SHOULD GO TO PRISON FOR EXPOSING PEOPLE TO HIV WITHOUT THEIR KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT. DUH.
I cannot agree with the statement that they should not be obligated to disclose. How can you put the onus onto someone who doesn't have all the facts disclosed to them? I agree that you should always use condoms for casual sex, but condoms are not perfect and if someone does not wish to take the risk of sleeping with…
USE CONDOMS, PEOPLE.*
I went to see Land Before Time as a kid, and they put Bambi on.
As a person who works in the video production industry, I laughed at the piss poor production values. Many of the YouTube channels I subscribe to have better audio and video skills than this. As a human with a brain, I laughed then cried then laughed again that people are will to part with $10 a month to view this…
