See, we actually call it “Hungry Jacks” and “Red Rooster” here, but I think that’s just because they’re so uncommon. It’s a like a Pizza Hut, a rare site in the wilderness. KFC is just KFC :P

Aw, we’re being so nationalistic!

It’s lollies, darl, not sweeties.

OMG FELLOW AUSSIES!!!! *waves enthusiastically*

OMG THAT’S ME!!!!! I use Maccas in Kitchenette and he gets so adorably mad!!! :D

Maybe I don’t want lots of Americans here, ok?! Is that so wrong??? They’ll bring their guns and their politics and their religion and their funny accents and I’m not ok with that!!!!

Some of it is also regional - Queenslanders will speak differently to Melbournians who will speak differently to Sydney-siders to folks from Adelaide etc. Like, no one here says “cozies”, but they do in Qld.

I had NO IDEA Americans didn’t speak English ;) until I made some US friends - we chat regularly via Skype now and sometimes I or they say something that just results in confused silence because omgwhatareyouSAYING you drongo!! They also speak much slower than we do here, which is frustrating ;P

I saw that - what a moron.

Yep. Had a little cry this morning listening to 774 and this guy called in the say he would likely never gt to marry his partner because one of them was dying from HIV/AIDS - it’s just cruel what this Government is doing to us, and the bigotry that gets shared every time the issue comes up is just dismaying. For all

Perhaps we won’t mention though the racism, bigotry, treatment of asylum seekers, and treatment of the environment ;)

Someone else might have already replied, but yes it was overturned, as our Federal laws define marriage as between a man and a woman. The states cannot legislate on the issue. It’s heartbreaking.

My partner and I had a good angry cry, had sex in the shower, and have avoided all media (we’re sick of today’s catchphrase: “I’m not a bigot but...”).

How do you...practice ‘your Aussie’? Or do I not want to know...?

Fosters. Australian for beer.

I need to remind the US (not you guys, you’re cool) that your voting has a serious WORLD WIDE impact. You won’t just ruin America by picking a Republican President (the idea of any of the current contenders is terrifying) you will ruin the ENTIRE WORLD by voting Republican.

Agreed - I’m currently doing two voluntary internships, one with a not for profit, one with a small political organisation - I know neither has the money to pay me, and I’m ok with that, because I think the work I’m doing is important.

I’m currently doing two (I’ve done another in the past) unpaid internships while I study, but they both know the hours I will work and don’t expect anything more, on the basis that I m a volunteer and so my time is NOT theirs to steal. I work Monday 12 - 5 and Friday 10-6 and that’s it - if they want me for more, they

It does indeed seem like everything (and I mean everything) is acceptable and hell, expected! to be consumed in a fried form.

I actually agree with you. I don’t like SeaWorld, but without them a lot of vulnerable animals would die. The premise of looking after and breeding these animals while they face extinction is a positive one, and the shows (while I hate them) are how they raise money in order to do this. Let’s face facts, people won’t
