I just showed it to my kid because he's finally old enough and he cracked up. Love it.

Hah my sister and I always say “I am LARS.”
I do! I love that movie! Lars tied to the tree! Never not funny.
... Mostly. The pool scene where Squints fakes drowning to make out with Wendy Peppercorn feels skeevy as fuck, and it makes me cringe that the “killer” putdown is “you play ball like a girl.”
Ummm... Hook is AWESOME and awesome on an additional level once you are a parent. I just rewatched it last year, so I’m not talking out my ass here. It is fun, pretty, and heartfelt. It is a goddamn treasure.
Very true. I could see Amandla Stenberg doing an amazing job in the role.
My favorite lines in the movie.
What the fuck? Hook is one of the most joyful movies I’ve ever seen. I wish there were more movies like Hook. I love this movie.
THE CUTTING EDGE! God, so good. That’s one of my all-time favorite me-and-mom it’s-on-tv-let’s-watch-it-! flicks! (“Always comes back the big B: what a bitch!”)
Does anyone else remember Heavyweights? No? Ok.
I came here to say this same thing... there is nothing joyless about Hook. It still holds up and is played all. the. time. on TV. I’m here with you... in the place between sleep and awake, where dreams come from. That’s where I’ll be waiting....
You are unequivocally wrong. Hook FILLED me with JOY! It is JOY FUL!
You know what holds up in the same vein, Heavyweights... no joke it is still VERY funny! Not to mention the fact that we relearn that Ben Stiller just recycled his character on there in Dodgeball.
I had a sick day VHS with movies I taped off HBO free weekends and cable (complete with bad cuts from hitting pause and record to skip commercials). It went Much Ado About Nothing, The Cutting Edge, Willow.
Not to mention, without Space Jam, we would have never gotten Kristen Wiig’s Lola Bunny.
Nope. I refuse to go back and re-read that. Because “Hook” is wonderful. So there.
But The Sandlot still holds up, right?
WHEW.
