How does this upset the paradigm rather than reaffirm it? This is a celebration and not a challenge unless you want to say that everything is A-OK and there aren’t terrible imbalances around identity, power, and class

This play can’t be both lauded in mainstream publications like the New York Times and deemed transgressive. Pick one.

This is bare-minimum good. I’m glad she’s not going to spend her life behind bars, but she’s still going to be in prison through August 2019 and on parole (somewhat of an open-air prison) for 10 years. That’s not true freedom, that’s punishment by another name.
