You can glean this from the TV advertising, but it really stood out to me when the NFL draft was held last year not far from where I live in Chicago: the NFL has this thing where they can’t just smile and acknowledge that they’re the most popular sport in America; they have to have MORE. It’s like they want to bully

Why the fuck are there all these 50's around here? This is the home of the goddamned FORTY-NINERS!

Clay Matthews is an arrogant asshole, he deserves it.

Good. That Clay Matthews is such a thug.

The athletes really need to sit down and say screw this I’m staying home. The cost of not competing is wasting 4 years of your life and physical prime and having to wait another 4 years at maybe getting another chance. The risk of going is MRSA and never competing at anything ever again. Also every water born

It was the “pee pee” line. That’s when I knew he wasn’t a troll. Trolls try to use incendiary language to rile you up. They don’t intentionally use bad humor. I believe he sincerely believes what he said. I don’t think he’s trying for a negative reaction. That just makes him an asshole.

The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly inquired in to his availability.

Deadspin changed the picture without acknowledging the mistake.

This is Gawker/Deadspin — a troll is clearly defined as someone who disagrees with you.

That’s a picture of Jonathan Hankins, #95 not Jay Bromley who is #96

Officer: Alright, Mr. Manziel. We’re going to keep this short and to the point. Now we understand you have been spending a lot of time in Fort Worth lately and there have been conflicting reports as to what happened here today. So I want you to tell me the truth. I’ve been doing this a long time and I’m not going to

He's like the NFL equivalent of Shia Labeouf

“He didn’t seem like a particularly good ref” literally everyone disagrees.

Exactly. I usually actually agree with him and then when the call goes the other way I’m like, “well, this is all bullshit isn’t it”

The whole issue “awareness” non-profit industry is a scam, since it basically lets a charity spend all its cash advertising itself. And then the NFL is worse since all their pink is just an attempt to sell more stuff, and only sends a tiny percentage of that to the useless charity.

Totally agree. He not only made the calls clearly, he often explained exactly what happened and how it violated the rules. I always felt Carey was the best ref at educating the fans (and that's really the point of being miked anyway) on the rules and making everything less of a mystery. Now it seems he's afraid of

Unrelated memo to the National Fucklords League: If you don’t stop with the for-profit pinkwashing pig dickery, Real Breast Cancer Survivors are gonna storm your pukey pink-lined turf this October and strangle refs with Pepto pink whistle lanyards, choke coaches with pink challenge flags and stuff pink wristbands,

I can’t blame Carey. The NFL rules make no fucking sense, and are mostly up for interpretation.

I always thought the value of Mike Carey was to show how meaningless and arbitrary the review decisions are.
