Actual socialism always leads to authoritarian rule, mass murder and economic collapse. It just so happens that people (who aren’t part of a small group of the politically-connected elite) don’t like to work hard to take up the slack of those who contribute less to society. Bashing those you disagree with because they

Thanks for your professional opinion. Here’s my unprofessional opinion: A used 911 or new C8 Vette are better options. Why would anyone cross shop them with this....Toyota thing?

Denmark’s system is social capitalism. The keyword being capitalism.

A democratic republic can’t exist under communism because communism requires an authoritarian government. Communism is inherently anti-liberal; liberalism is about valuing the individual.

That’s how gradual improvement works: things continually improve relative to the past

Capitalist elements under socialism are generally in the form of enterprising individuals diverting state resources for personal gain. There’s a reason why only the most privileged (within the party) incorporated capitalism in their lives: it lead a to a more bountiful life than what can be offered to the masses

It’s not confirmation bias. There are 0 examples of successful socialism on a national scale. There are many examples of successful capitalism (or, more accurately, social capitalism). Anything that did happen to work out under socialism was either the result of 1) capitalist elements retained under socialist 2)

If you have to go back 60 years to find a time with better metrics (or point out some inherent societal defect) then that kinda proves the point. 2019 is the best year to be an American since 1776.

People like the poster above me don’t want prosperity. They would prefer everyone living in massive government apartment complexes and getting around in government transportation if that means they get to be right.

Refusing to be a whiny baby who throws a daily pity party goes a long way, too.

The Splinter echo chamber falls silent.

HEAR, HEAR! I never got a chance because of the echo chamber policy of greying out dissenting opinions.

I hate when the Amazon slave caravans come through. They got my brother last year. He kept screaming about how he didn’t want to work there, but they just chained him up and took him.

Max, well said. You nailed every point. Socialists always point to the errant failures of capitalism while refusing to acknowledge the endless failings of socialism. Thanks for standing your ground and refusing to bend the knee.

We covered labor, workers’ rights, and Indigenous issues; we showed the human cost of unchecked capitalist greed and those hallowed inalienable rights. We refused to settle.”

Splinter gave no fucks because they banned anyone who showed the slightest hint of dissent or disagreement with the writer and/or small group of loud, whiny members of the community.

One where users can block people they don’t want to interact with is a good start. This whole “blocked until we give you our blessed approval” was doomed to fail.

Wait, so shadow banning people in the comments with a childish, highly subjective “grey out” system doesn’t work? It creates an echo chamber and drives away new traffic? You don’t say!

They won’t be missed.
