Yeah VW cut a lot of costs starting in 2017...2016 had the most features & option choices. In the US, anyways. 

VW sold 3-doors in the USA from 2015-17. 2016 was special-order only; 2017 was base-model only/special order/produced for about 2-3 months).

Adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist are optional on all GTI models but the top-of-the-line Autobahn version, in which they’re standard.

My Mk7 VW GTI has adaptive cruise along with traffic jam assist and adaptive lane assist. It works unobtrusively and very well in most situations.
