Every joke a comedian tells is a lie. It’s not real. At all. So no one has the slightest idea what was going on in John Mulaneys house except him and his ex-wife.

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, eh? So you do believe in universal healthcare, right?

Yup.  This is a classic move.  And it never fails.

Well, it’s fairly obvious how it’s different, but I agree with the sentiment of your comment ie.: This guy crafts a beautiful guidebook and gets buried, while random articles doing the same with less effort get clicks and coins.

And we get the usual suspects out pointing fingers and feeling superior when it’s not a team sport. We’re all losing, and it’s not cute.

I’m not a huge fan of canceling people forever for their mistakes, but this is a weird place to put your support. One abusive boyfriend, an ignorant homophobe (I know a “joke” when I hear it, and that clown wasn’t joking) with no self control, and a mentally deranged narcissist are your symbols of injustice? Cool,

Well they do keep posting the same thing over and over, so you’re getting that replay value they keep talking about.  So no refunds.

You just spoke it into existence.

(Late as hell response, but… kinja is a garbage pile you have to sift through as a self-torture hobby.)

I can’t even find my own comments, so that’s unsurprising. This place is almost aggressively bad for anyone who cares enough to try to participate in it. at this point it feels purposeful.

It’s like his show “Horace and Pete” with the hateful embarassing Dad was actually just him writing himself in ten years.

I used to be a fan too. “Angry old white guy” was not his schtick, at all, so it’s sad to hear that’s where he’s at. I heard and read stories from when he first started feeling his way back out into comedy that he was making this turn. Guess he just fully went there.

For people saying “Just focus on all the positive comments.” You either have a limited understanding of how brains work or how the internet works. No offense: it’s easy to say things that are difficult to put into action.

I’ll double down on that flippancy and say that there’s a legitimate mental health epidemic going on, and this is a symptom of it. No one is getting the help they need, and demanding supports from our entertainments is a very weird coping mechanism.

Bingo! It’s the same with all media now. By acting like a semi-decent person, you open yourself to constant scrutiny and scolding. It’s actually pretty sickening. Show that you actually care, and people will use it to destroy you.

Having lived there for several years until last year: Absolutely. They are stealthy with their bullshit in STL.

The question they ask themselves is: “What image will get the maximum emotional reaction (engagement) from the viewer/reader?” Given the choice between blurry mug shot or happy white family, they choose the “sympathy” angle.

It was an embarrassing movie on every level and this article is the only positive thing that came about because of it.  It stinks, and someone owes JK Simmons and Mary Lynn Rajskub apologies for being in it.

As complicated as this may be, I’ll just say it highlights one thing very clearly: professional politicians will always be professional politicians first, before anything else.

Somebody call his neighbor and tell him come get this fool.
