I have to agree. Rebuild is very difficult to consider a valid standalone story. It’s opaque and abrupt and far more abstract without the context of the original show.  Outside of the thrill of seeing some top notch animation, I couldn’t recommend it on it’s own.

Is it cool to just enjoy a lavishly produced animated film? Even if I hated the story (I don’t) there is a level of craftwork that is admirable throughout the entire series.  No one who loves visual art should miss it.

I only care about two things (maybe only one):

The question they ask themselves is: “What image will get the maximum emotional reaction (engagement) from the viewer/reader?” Given the choice between blurry mug shot or happy white family, they choose the “sympathy” angle.

Just had a funny thought: In the past it was the (non-politician) left always pushing for “transparency” and freedom of information. The counter was to frame it as lefties trying to endanger democracy.

It was an embarrassing movie on every level and this article is the only positive thing that came about because of it.  It stinks, and someone owes JK Simmons and Mary Lynn Rajskub apologies for being in it.

A lot of people’s moms are going to be answering some uncomfortable questions in the near future.

As complicated as this may be, I’ll just say it highlights one thing very clearly: professional politicians will always be professional politicians first, before anything else.

Somebody call his neighbor and tell him come get this fool.

In the most practical terms, asking people to get vaccinated isn’t altering their reality. The shit literally takes 30 minutes. Fuck off with that.

This entire thread was hilarious, because it was such a “videogames” thread. It makes me nostalgic for a more innocent time.

For the sake of clarity, not necessarily a “defense”: she probably didn’t “go” to anyone seeking attention. She was most likely pursued by Bari Fucking Weiss to go on her podcast to complain about how bad things are for racist white people. That’s the Bari Fucking Weiss modus operandi.  Look her up, and prepare to

Unsurprising response. Funny how “centrists” always go to “antisemite” when you offer a criticism of a nation, which is not the same as a religion or ethnicity*. It’s kind of the same nuance free shite spewed by conservatives, isn’t it? It’s almost as if they have the same desire to maintain a status quo that is

Oh dear. You should save your energy, because people who are doing well and feeling comfortable (most people posting in the comments on G/O sites) are just fine with how things are. They hate people who threaten to make any substantial changes. The hate and fear of progressives is stronger than anything I’ve seen for

Is there even any question? His letter is the most hilarious part of the entire article. You KNOW this f**ker was hardcore supportive of human beings rotting in jail, and now wants to cry about how much protein he gets. GTFOH, “Proud Boy”. I don’t wish it on anyone, but I get a certain satisfaction from it in this

Subtracting the desperate racism (which is a thing now, I guess?), this was the most embarassing attempt I’ve seen since 9th grade.

They say “Why was that brave?! How is that brave?” and somehow remain completely oblivious to the fact that it’s brave because she knew you and people like you would be talking shite, you petulant mushroom.  She knew that she would be heavily criticized for daring to take care of herself.

You’re being way too generous or willfully obtuse. I’ll guess generous, because I was like that once. And sometimes still am, because I like people and want them to not be assholes.

I’ll walk you through the whole thing, and if I’m stuck in the greys, so be it.

Out here in the real world, I’d say that if you’re a teenage girl with working parents or a only a working mom, no money, and no siblings that can watch you, you’re likely to get involved with a horrible person whether your parents want you to or not.

I’ve realized it’s no longer even slightly a joke that I end so many comments on the internet with “What I’m trying to say is: We’re doomed” It’s just… how things are now.
