James Whitbrook must be getting confused or this is a subtle bit of trolling but there’s no way Jerry Pournelle would have been happily described as a champion of the New Wave of Science Fiction, a sub-genre written by filthy hippies and progressives (aka many of my favourite authors) who eschewed hard SF.
