After snoozing my alarm 8 times, I finally rolled out of the hotel bed. Toby pops his head up and starts following me to the bathroom as he always does. I look at myself in the hotel bathroom mirror; hair looks like I stuck my finger in a socket, undershirt and tie still on my body, head feels like Neil Peart was…
Made it home in one piece, and with some hardware too! I’ll do a full write up later this week after I upload some in car footage.
Was very surprised the 20+ year old decals were not faded or dry. Was a lot easier than I thought too. Let’s see how they hold up in driving conditions and this relentless Ohio rain. I may be one of the slowest times on Sunday, but at least it’ll look good.
Took advice from WRXforScience on some numbers for the weekend. Magnetic vent cover sheets. $10 at the depot for homes gets me enough material for 3 sets of numbers. Sheets come in white, so I had to color them so they’ll stand out on the broad canvas of white the van has.
Not huge into the hardcore scene; especially with the type of “dancing” one does in the pits. Involves a lot of arm swinging and kicks (see below). Not my cup of tea. But I can’t get enough of these guys. The missus even said this was her favorite band she’s seen live with me, and she’s seen everything from KoRn to…
After several hours of forum reading, I’ve learned a ton on stock prep and tires for next weekend. I’m going with a taller ratio (60 compared to a stock 55) and stock width (215) snow tire. Firestone Winterforce W2's were jeered to have paper thin sidewalls, and I should generally avoid anything made for icy…
I’ll be hungover from a wedding the night before, but still gonna send it.
A little bit of everything!!
So our back yard is 90% fenced. There’s a 5-10 foot opening on each side of the house. For the last month, Toby is very good at doing his business in the back without trying to creep up front. We even have a runner going across the yard so he can enjoy the huge yard, but he just won’t do his business when attached to…
My body is ready. The missus caught up on her movies. Tickets are bought. Catheter is installed (kidding). Thursday evening can’t come soon enough. For fun (and if your’e still reading this), I compiled my rankings of the 21 movies. Feel free to scream in agony if I ranked something different than you would.
With the eBay find of the year, Gen II Taurus SHO Slicers are an exact fit for the Transit Connect. $100 for the set.
Reading deep into threads about Duratec Mazda L engines. Sounds really exciting right? These are in Escapes, Fusions, Mazda 3's and 6's, and the Transit Connect. The aftermarket scene for these are scarce. But I am seeing multiple conversations about removing the balance shaft on this engine to free it up a little…
Anyone have any good stories? I’ve got one that I’ll never top:
SIKE!! Here’s one more.
Tags came in for the van. Ohio Beef and GRSTNK were approved!
I want to hear your guys’/gals’ worst oil change stories. I read some funny ones in the comments on the article posted today. I want to hear Oppo’s horror stories. Maybe it was a nightmare franchise experience; or maybe you goofed up really bad on your own.
I have a connection to someone selling a ‘91 Voyager in Jackson, Michigan. Green title. 149,xxx miles. She wants it gone ASAP. If she doesn’t find a buyer, she’s selling it to scrap for $350. According to her, the trans slips in 1-2. If you have any interest, I can head that way for you and talk to them. Let me know!
Ohio’s DMV/BMV/Titling/Secretary of State....whatever they call it, is a nightmare. I’ve experienced Illinois and Michigan DMV’s, and Ohio just took the crown and scuttled away with it. For those who don’t get it, which I think is majority of you here, I’ve been coined the nickname Greasetank since college.
Let me begin by saying I don’t understand California residents. To be more specific, it seems like everyone in California does not work; they either surf and live in a van, or spend countless hours at brunch with no agenda on their day. I’m convinced nobody has a full time job in California.
Piecing together a little review of the Turo rental I used for my trip in L.A. 2018 Ford Flex SEL. Feel free to drop in any questions or comments you’d like me to cover. I had the vehicle for 5 days, and put a good 600 miles into it.
