I work as a lot attendant at a Ford dealership in Wisconsin and the answer is yes. If there’s nothing to clean for a delivery they have us put the dealership plate frames on any car that doesn’t have them. I cringe everytime I have to do it.

Its called planned obsolescence. So basically the engineers build it to last say 3 years then break so you have to buy the new model. Phone companies do it all the time and it is somewhat common for household appliances.
