I completely agree with Oswalt - way back when I saw the movie the majority of the film felt lifeless. Yes, several of those iconic panels made it up on the screen (which was cool to see) and there was one or two brilliant scenes (the prison sequence), but the movie tried too hard to stick to the pages and fell flat.
