Mangold indeed lied about the reshoots that have been confirmed by John Williams and many others and I have no idea what Ford said. Maybe he did not want to give credit to the fake rumors about the ending and he was changing it to please the fans, but there were reshoots and they were linked to the third act.

This is an adaptation of a Comic that makes no social commentary at all, simply satires the super hero genre as a whole in the most brutal manner possible. IF they have the Muses and use them in musical framing sequences, using the original music, you are right. However, they are not beholden to do either or both.
