You do know sanctuary cities were started at police dept.’s behest so they could serve the public better (witnesses, victims, etc). Being undocumented is a civil violation, not a criminal one.

Even if Donald and his supporters don’t care at all about undocumented immigrants, the whole country will be safer if everyone feels safe using the legal system. Arresting people in courtrooms is a terrible idea from any perspective.

The end result will be undocumented residents of these cities stop going to court, refuse to testify as witnesses, stop reporting crime or interacting with any law enforcement, start driving without license or insurance, etc.
