Yikes. I’m an EMT, and this type of injury absolutely requires EMS. Any type of impalement should be handled by professionals, as removing the impaling object can cause massive hemorrhage. The impaling object act as a tamponade, and prevents some bleeding. Someone, either the gym or the patient, should have called 911.
