I had the same issue, and it seems the beacon doesn’t load poperly if you shoot the enemies around it from afar. If you have a previous save, load it and rush the point with the Nomad (I literally rammed a few guys before getting off the vehicle). Worked for me.

My main reason to pay for stuff in HotS is to support the developers, so it doesn’t really bother me. The bummer is maybe the loss of that aura of exclusivity those skins have right now? I don’t know if it bothers me that much.
