I think Singer has it on this one. The screenshot of QuickSilver from the new trailer doesnt look that goofy. And he is set in the 70's, rocking a floyd tshirt. Also using an ultra ultra bright setand filming in 3600 frps sounds like a technically great way to film superfast motion.

I really wanted DoFP to stay in the 60's and not move into the 70's. The style of First Class was really cool. The movies might be really well made, but the 70's and 80's sound to me like they might come across a bit goofy.
