I'd recommend giving it a shot. You have to really appreciate the insanity to enjoy it, though. I'd recommend catching up on the older seasons. They are airing seasons 1 and 2 at 4 AM every weeknight on Adult Swim, so if you have a DVR or don't sleep, there's a great way to catch up.

This isn't the first time the cameras have been acknowledged. The season finale of Season 1 comes to mind, where Jon steals a camera and runs off in the woods to hide, where he meets his new best friend (at the time) Mark. They talk about Nicky's Grinders and Mark's Cherry Red Dodge Durango.
