I somehow made it through TotK without actively realizing all that, but you’re absolutely right, it’s all pretty frustrating.

My playthrough of Alan Wake 2 was interrupted by discovering Robin Hobb, and now I’m halfway through the third book of her first Assassin trilogy. I won’t be able to do anything else until I finish that book. How I'd never heard of her before is beyond me.
Well said.
I finished out last year strong, completing several short games before the new year in, like, less than a quarter of the time I played Zelda. It was a good pallette cleanser. I’m diving into Alan Wake now. So far so good. I really wish it had a photo mode, because it’s a damn fine looking game.
The controls of your land speeder in particular were just awful, something I remember several reviews mentioning. I finished the game and generally enjoyed it, but cruising around on the sand was never as straightforward as it should have been.
Persona 5. I tried, I really did. I gave it 16 hours. Got halfway through the second dungeon/palace. The music was catchy, everything was stylish as hell, and I even liked the English voice acting. But even before I started getting confused by all the overlapping systems, I was just bored. Mainly it was because of the…
My best gift moment was definitely Christmas 1991 when I got the SNES, my first video game console. I’d played computer games before that, but it was the first game related thing that was entirely my own, and it was a complete surprise. I’ve had other great gift moments, but none quite so formative as that one.
I finally finished Tears of the Kingdom this week. That was a pretty satisfying journey, but it was so damn loooong. So I’m finishing out the year with some short and sweet games: The Invincible, My Friendly Neighborhood, Cocoon and Jussant. They’ll be a good palate cleaner for when I start Alan Wake 2 in the new year.
I’m inching closer to the end of Tears of the Kingdom. I told myself when I started this that I wouldn’t go for every shrine like I did in the first game. Turns out that was a dirty lie. Not that I’m complaining, though. Much like the first game, I’ve enjoyed this one up to a point where a switch flipped in my brain an…
Tears of the Kingdom. Nothing but Tears of the Kingdom. Does this game ever end? Jesus.
Oof, Climbey looks like it would make me hurl. I can only do games where you stand still or teleport (as I learned the hard way).
This is my first weekend in a while that I'm not working, and so far I'm enjoying taking a break from screens. I'm looking forward to catching up on game time over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Thanks for sharing, sorry you have to deal with this. That lack of insurance coverage for the lenses is bs.
This weekend I’ll be playing a horror classic called “Working Weekends to Meet a Deadline,” which I’ll be playing to completion for a few weeks. I tell you, the boss fights in this game are no joke.
I won’t be playing anything this weekend, but I’ll be video game adjacent since I’m finally watching The Last of Us. It’s pretty good! I also probably need to work a little bit. I’m trying not to think about that too much yet.
When Alan Wake came to PS+ I thought about replaying it before the sequel arrives, but I bounced hard off the intro and decided to let my good memories of it lie unharmed. Still looking forward to the sequel.
This weekend will be for actually finishing my 2nd playthrough of Kentucky Route Zero, which I said I’d do last weekend and then just didn’t. I found myself instead bingeing the last season of Better Call Saul (what a long road that’s been) and starting a new book, “The Truth About These Strange Times”, by Adam Foulds.
This weekend will be for finishing a replay of Kentucky Route Zero. Games have taken a backseat to a quickening drumbeat of *stuff* lately, so the quiet contemplation of KR0 has been an effective way to play a game without it feeling like my brain is going to melt from overstimulation. I also happened to start The…
To this day I still remember the feeling of satisfaction as I watched Herbert Fucking Moon get his stupid face eaten off by zombies. GOTY moment right there.
I think I’ll be doing a ng+ playthrough of the Dead Space remake. With so many new games always coming out, I don’t often replay games, especially not right after I’ve just finished them. But I just really like Dead Space. It ticks all the right boxes. I remember doing the same thing with the original.
