The film was awful but the concept is not.

If you want to know more about the possible intentions of management, corporate, or evil espionage I suggest you look at the sequel to the original 70's version called Futureworld. I personally think we’re heading down that road and the writers have taken some queues from that mostly forgotten sequel.

Agreed, seems like a cop out making a slasher out of that premise, it might as well just be a slasher film sequel to an original which doesn’t exist. Would be better to switch the genre, a story based on that premise could make for a very funny dark comedy/drama or something.
