Because people pay attention to comedians more than they do actual statistics. I'm not taking it as a claim of anything, but people repost this clip endlessly saying "oh, how true." but it's not.
The trouble is that it exaggerates one threat while effectively dismissing a much greater threat. This isn't trivial. I know far more women whose lives have been cut short by heart disease than male violence.
Actually, from what i've read in cases of same-sex abuse it isn't always the larger or more physically imposing person doing the abuse.

Thing is, yhowever, I have encountered plenty of people who sort of believe this unironically, not necessarily on a "let's round em up" level but on a level of "testosterone is a poison" (although I believe both sexes have the hormone)
IMHO satire is very, very hard to pull off.
