It's my birthday! I got everything I wanted. All my family and friends joining me later for some outside drinking now that it's warm. I got to go to Popeye's Fried Chicken, don't judge me, I LOVE their beans and rice. Then off to Home Depot for some chalkboard paint and a new grill. Best of all? My stepdaughter gave

Girl, I have been in the same damn spot. It kinda sucks, and it feels soo complicated.

So I marked a huge stack of midterms today. One of the questions (without going into a ton of detail) involved interpreting DNA evidence to determine the correct suspect guilty of a murder. A student successfully got it right, and justified why, so he got full marks...but he capped off his answer with "SUSPECT X IS

I'm a fellow social person, and have done long distance (badly) at times. I've also had male friends with whom I've become emotionally intimate, sometimes to a degree that my partner (or my friends, or society) might not be okay with. When I have truthfully not been attracted to the guy, I've had no trouble setting

I've been waiting to get feedback on a problem/troubling issue, but missed last night's open thread.

OK Jezzies, I need some serious, nonjudgmental advice. I apologize for how long this is!

Why is your Sunday great?

Are there any updates on the commenter who posted a suicidal comment last night?? :(

Et tu, Doug?

I do not find Mia Farrow's graphic illustration of the destruction of their family due to Woody Allen cheating on her with her teenage daughter to be as shocking as the actual destruction of their family due to Woody Allen cheating on her with her teenage daughter.

Yes, actually. Just deserts comes from the same root as the word "deserve" - i.e. getting what they deserve. While there are many puns to be made about "just desserts" that's not the correct spelling for the meaning of the phrase.

just deserts? like the thing he deserves is really sandy and fully of camels...

So many people die from drug addiction every day and very very few of them ever result in the people who sold them the drugs getting arrested. Whilst I am saddened by the loss of such a great talent and fellow human, I do think there is some preferential treatment going on here.

Team christopher forever. I never liked Luke. I always thought he was a surly unattractive jerk.

Oh my gosh, Rune! Probably still in the Inn's potting shed...

I started commenting this week after years of lurkdom! I'm drinking some Spanish red wine and watching "In a World." And compulsively looking up pictures of famous redheads because I kiiiiiiind of want to dye my hair.

Remember when they were finally getting together (at Sookie's wedding?) and so happy till he got a call that Sherry was pregnant and left her standing there alone with her dying dream?

Please, please do not think I am judging you, because I am not. This relationship sounds very unhealthy, though. He is your father. If he wants to help you out with school loans or whatever, great, but it should come with no strings attached. The fact that you feel you "owe" him for helping you out is not right.

:( We (also?) moved from a blue state to a red state, so I think finding socially and politically like-minded people has made the transition a little more difficult. But we've still met some great people! The other issue is that everyone here has lived here forever. They all have their own groups of friends and it's

Phew! Glad we're not the only ones. And it's so cold here! And no bagels!
