I wasn't so worried about semantics. I take much more issue with the number of citizens killed by cops.

How is that different from a comparative study? Just that you weren't going to compare them very hard?

You should update this. Cops aren't even at or above the national average in workplace fatalities. It's a safer than average job.

The majority of police deaths are traffic accidents, not murders.

I really wish I would have seen your comment before wasting my time researching the same exact point.

Per the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the 10 deadliest jobs in the US:

It's not just asking the question that Derfel asked, on it's own it's a very reasonable question. But failing to even Google the tons of places that the information is available kind of makes his motivation seem questionable. It comes off like someone saying "of course racism is a problem, but is anyone paying

If you follow the link in the article above, it takes you to the explanation of what numbers we do have. The basic gist of that article is that the low-end estimate is 400 civilians killed by police a year, but that misses big chunks of potential data (anything found not justifiable, anything on federal property —

I'm not saying that you personally intentionally discriminate against black people. I'm saying "we" as a society have failed to give them equal opportunities. If you think that you're pure heart somehow makes that problem go away, you're an idiot and my use of the term is appropriate.

You're an idiot. You're interchanging race, citizenship and ethnicity with no rhyme or reason. 9/11 wasn't a couple hundred year long systemic oppression of a race by a government. It was a terrorist act carried out by a handful of people from a few different countries. Now, I do think that men in Arab countries

drugs?

No, it's not. You're still worrying about the wrong legal issues. This is at least hostile environment sexual harassment. There's the issues about making her uncomfortable in her workplace and also potential retaliatory action for not caving to his advances. The pictures are the least of the issue here. By a mile.

There's not enough there to come to a conclusion at all. That you think you can read one in just shows you are predisposed to brushing off potentially reasonable complaints about sexual harassment.

There's more than just copyright law here though. This is about sexual harassment, so you may want to brush up on employment law.

I use "we" as in "we" Americans. The way we have treated minorities, historically and presently, is shameful. You're part of "we", whether you want to admit it or not.

Does Canada accept US refugees?

Read up on redlining. By forcing blacks into certain parts of towns, where banks wouldn't give them loans, we prevented them from taking part in the biggest investment most people make (successful home ownership). Combined with funding our schools by local (rather than national or state taxes), this has perpetuated

Watching the Wire literally changed my worldview. I was taught, and totally bought into, the "it's their problem" way of thinking. After watching that show I couldn't help but do more reading and research about race and poverty. We all should be ashamed of ourselves for allowing things to be this bad in 2014.

Your point is a good one, though I disagree with the example. They shot indiscriminately in the Boston bomber's general direction. The Colorado shooter and Cliven Bundy are better examples. One did some killing and was taken alive and the other assembled a militia that pointed guns at federal agents and still
