I think you answered your own question with your last sentence. And why does something need to be used every day in order to be considered useful? I bought my mom an iPad so she can FaceTime me on my iPhone or Mac and she LOVES it. We don't chat every day, but when we do it's a really exciting thing for her to be able

For everyone who's claiming Gizmodo is guilty of the same crime, THEY'RE NOT. It's entirely different because you're viewing ads on Gizmodo only while viewing Gizmodo. This pathetic attempt to make Android developers money throws ads at you when you aren't even using the app.

I haven't heard of it, but even if it is true (which it very well may be), iPhone developers generally make way more money. iPhone apps are guaranteed to work on all devices and there's an easy and unified way to pay for apps. Android lacks both of these key components.

Wait, who's trolling?

Wait, who's trolling? I forgot.

I believe the chart is referring to giving away your location. You can turn location services off on iPhone and then nobody knows where you are. The consolidation.db file that is stored on your iPhone is not and never was sent to Apple; it's stored locally on your iPhone and the computer you sync with.

No, he's using the front facing camera to take funny Photo Booth pictures! Right after that shot he put down the iPad and gasped, "Whoa! Obama, what's up my man?!"

Figured it out. I went through every app on the Location Services list and toggled the location on/off switch individually and that new app, Crackle, is the culprit. Pretty strange. But it's well worth being able to stream Seinfeld for free!

Yes, but that turns all of them off. Usually that icon is only there when I have an app open that's using my location. But ever since the update it's always there unless I turn off Location Services entirely, which I do not want to do. Whatever, battery life hasn't been affected. Not really a big deal.

I recently noticed that Location is ALWAYS on and I don't know what's causing it. I've quit every single app and it still shows the location icon. I think it's only from the most recent update, though... Anyone else experiencing this?

I understand your point, and maybe I phrased it a little poorly. I understand pieces of what Apple has done have been done before, but Apple was the first to do it so elegantly. Just because there were touchscreen phones doesn't mean they were implemented correctly. Most of them required a stylus or used resistive

I see your point. Icons on a desktop/in a window has been around for forever, but swiping to see new pages was something new, or so I believe. And Samsung's own Touch UI looks strikingly similar to iOS. It's pretty hard to deny that. But you definitely make a good point. Apple just kind of moved some desktop ideas to

Are you really going to deny that Samsung's custom Android skin doesn't resemble iOS? And are you forgetting that iPhone was the first phone with pinch to zoom, flick scrolling, and a decent mobile browser that displays websites as they appear on a PC. It was only after iPhone was released that phones started coming

I mean, honestly, a lot of phones after the iPhone were copies of it. Let's be realistic. iPhone came out as a phone with the first decent browser (with webpages showing up as they do on a PC), flick scrolling, pinch to zoom, fantastic media-playing, and the main screen is a page of apps that can be launched by

Yeah... the thing about that is Samsung needs Apple more than Apple needs Saumsung.

very informative!

Right! You just need the EyeFi card in your camera and then I assume their app installed on your iPad (or whatever device). I remember this being a oft-requested feature and EyeFi saying it couldn't be done because mobile devices can't create ad-hoc networks but apparently this does it some how. Really awesome!

So basically keep the battery close to full charge and don't leave it plugged in. That makes sense. But should we still fully charge/discharge the first time we use a product?

At first I thought this was silly. But now it's kind of driving me crazy.

Exactly. I'd much rather pay $20 and be ad free. With all the quirks that MobileMe has, I love having zero ads in my mail.
