Geek moment. Stonewall has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a Historic Landmark (the highest designation possible) since 2000. Since last year the National Park Service has had an initiative to record and register more sites important to LGBT history. Get involved! Help make our national

I’m straight, 25, and from the midwest. I can’t remember exactly when I learned about the Stonewall riots, but it feels like something I’ve known about for a long time. I sure as fuck woudn’t have learned about it from my parents, so I’m pretty sure it must have been briefly covered in some history/social studies

I only recently learned about it, from a straight pastor friend who has recently become an ally and is spreading the news through his ministry.

‘Jitterbug’ is what you say before ‘Wake me up before you go-go!’, DUH.

“On the night of the rebellion, we were dancing the Lindy Hop, it’s like the jitterbug,”

Here’s to hoping that the Supremes find in favor of marriage equality tomorrow (or maybe Friday), and it’ll be a great week for LGBT rights and an added reason to party this weekend! :D

I’m always curious about how many straight people even know about Stonewall. I don’t mean that judgmentally, it’s not like it’s in the history books, I just wonder.

Not a lot. Not cuz they’re willfully ignorant, just mainly because it never really crossed over into the mainstream. And, it’s not taught in schools, unlike Selma, Montgomery, etc. Hopefully that will change in the future.

Man, did I stumble onto a TheBlaze comment section?

In case nobody told you, nothing you say is interesting,

Off the top of my head re: recent films, didn’t Battleship have a strong tie with the Navy and soldiers were extras? And on a tangent, didn’t Iron Man 3 get funding from China because of the doctor character (and also have like 12 minutes of scenes filmed exclusively for the international edit?)

The hanger is built right in the middle of the traxi way!

it is known, but that is every hangar

True story: The producers of Independence Day wanted to get official cooperation from the military for the movie. Lots of films get cooperation (think Top Gun) and the Pentagon has an entire publicity branch to facilitate these relationships.

Agreed, it's the only theory I'm willing to support.

Giant robots, it’s the only answer.

I think the hangar is for the secret government employee foam parties.
