So this doesn’t surprise me.
So this doesn’t surprise me.
Russell Simmons is a shitburger. In my Rock History (easy A) class the other day, we were watching a film about the rise of hip-hop and in a segment discussing misogyny, Simmons is asked DIRECTLY about how videos treat women and he’s all “welllll I’m powerless, there’s nothing I can do!”
YES. Thank you for all your amazing work. And, Lena Dunham and white feminists like her ACTIVELY UPHOLD WHITE SUPREMACY, whether they get that or not. It’s not some unrelated issue.
Amen, BusPassTrollop. Plenty of people can get educated and educate others on multiple issues at once. We aren’t single issue voters, because no one’s life is so uncomplicated that one has time to focus on just one thing.
That’s cute that you’re under the impression that we can’t be angry and actively act upon all of these things simultaneously but I’m here to tell you that we fucking can. In the past month I’ve helped people in Alabama register to vote, called my senators an obscene amount of times, raised over $300 for a nonprofit in…
When people are in need, we should help. That’s a basic principle I would support as often as possible.
I guess treating going to the bathroom as a convenience to be planned around is one solution, but we’ve legislated around that here. We have decided that, by law, public accommodations have to provide free bathrooms. And that accommodations must be made to make them accessible for people with ambulatory disabilities…
Hahah at 16! What the fuck? Ten. Try ten. I’m thirty and have spent twenty years spending 12-20 dollars a month onmenstruation supplies. This will continue for another twenty years at least.
You’re not sorry.
Only men have use for toilet seats that can be lifted, so we should probably be paying a hinge surcharge. I mean, acquisition and installation costs and all that.
Teeny weenie peenie committee?
Especially considering how they made the bulk of their money via foreclosures on people’s houses through shady means. Their “contributions” were basically screwing the shit out of people.
Nobody’s saying that she has male privilege now, but she did have, for most of her life, the perks that go with being seen and treated like a rich, white cis-male, and that informed, and continued to inform, how she interacts with the world. That’s worth acknowledging, and it’s something that transwomen (and transmen…
Cool, just wasn’t sure if that was the angle you were taking or not.
I thought the point was more that she had male privilege and still hasn’t adjusted to the fact that she no longer does. But I suppose there is an argument to be made that even before coming out, trans women don’t experience male privilege in the same way that cis men do.
That link says
That figure comes from one exit poll. Others disagree.
She’s thinking like a rich white woman.
Her problem is, she still thinks like a rich white man.
