A good friend of mine regretted selling one of his first motorcycles - a Yamaha R5 with a blueprinted engine, so he went looking for one to buy some 40 years later. Eventually he found one, and low and behold it was the same bike - complete with the scratches where he dropped it as a kid!

My old man had a 900 aero and always said the same thing. Also, the chassis was so floppy the doors wouldn’t open if it was on a jack.
I have a theory that it went on too long and should have stopped at the recovery hospital bit. All the stuff in Venice was a bit too much, IMO.
