A lot of the backlash is about the film's smugness and elitism, as well as its implications about eugenics, race, and intelligence. I still like the movie, but a couple of my friends have turned against it fiercely.

In a weird way, thinking about it more, Fahrenheit 9/11 is better as an expression of anger and confusion about the Iraq War and the Bush administration than it is as a documentary.

A lot of people were questioning the war in Iraq before Fahrenheit 9/11, and they would have done so independent of that film.

Can't remember who originally said something to this effect, but it holds true yet again: Rob Zombie is a guy who has a great DVD/Blu-ray collection but generally makes crummy movies.

I should add that I write this as someone who still loves Roger and Me unabashedly, and have a fondness for The Awful Truth and TV Nation. Everything else is kinda crap.

Michael Moore is consistently the worst part of his own films. Since this movie is all Michael Moore, it is probably the worst.

I kind of hated this movie when I caught it at New York Film Festival. I get what Rosi was trying to do at a formal and intellectual level with this contrast of banality and survival, but the immediate gut reaction to it all was, "Yeah, okay, I get it, and eff you, bucko."
