Haven't read the comments yet, but why do I get the sense that most of the posts will accuse Dowd of being the wrong person to write this review because he's not a true fan?
"Civil War possesses the unique kind of stupidity required when someone has a series of fantastic opportunities and manages to squander every single one of them."
I really hope Keenan Ivory Wayans shows up at the end dressed as a mailman and yells "MESSAGE" at the screen.

It never lived up to the hype, but I liked it when I read it around age 20.
Weirdest Portlandia sketch ever
I was hoping the chainsaw or barbed wire baseball bat would actually be used rather than brought out and basically discarded.
"You can tune a piano but you can't tuna— fuck it. Aquaman sucks."
Aquaman flounders
That becomes the big problem with a Batman who kills. If he's got no moral qualms with killing bad guys, the fact that he lets the worst bad guys live makes him seem like a homicidal maniac who sucks at what he does.
The thing that bugs me, though: If this version of Batman kills people, why the hell does he let The Joker live?
Or, you know, they just didn't like this movie and it has nothing to do with Marvel or DC loyalty.
One thing I wonder about that final battle. I know they're in the thick of things, but why didn't Superman let Wonder Woman wield the kryptonite spear to kill Doomsday? I mean, she's strong and invulnerable, and not weak to kryptonite. She probably would have wrecked Doomsday in a minute while Supes played point guard.
Same here!
There's something really silly about Wonder Woman seeing her future Justice League teammates by watching videos of them on a laptop
FDR, Churchill, and Stalin: THIS IS YALTA!
The Mad Max series is kind of like the Zelda games. Strict continuity is not necessary since it's more about the way certain tropes recur and are rejiggered.
Mass hysteria?
I think you're mixing up Jet Li with Jackie Chan. Li was part of the Chinese wushu team, just like Donnie Yen.
