Yeah she’s amazingly good. Great at banjo, great at fiddle and an operatic quality voice. I wish she’d get more recognition because she really is an outstanding example of the best of the different threads of traditional American culture.

Years ago, on some country music awards show, Dolly won something, Artist or Musician of the year or whatever, and demonstrated a smidgen of her talent by playing a banjo, really well. With those fake fingernails that had to be about two inches long. Counts as a miracle for me.
Yeah exactly, like Britney definitely has some stability issues but she’s an adult and has basic constitutional rights which were being very violated. Also her father as conservator seems like a massive conflict of interest, and he’s almost died a few times so after the inevitable what would’ve happened?
Including Devil Went Down to Georgia in Guitar Hero was enough to anger Charlie Daniels. Its not hard to piss off his ghost.
I feel making people visit East Tennessee and writing two major hit songs in a day count as miracles.
“...it’s honest, humble, and has an infectious hook, and a banjo. What the hell more do ya need?”
“While I generally believe that, when it comes to fame, your emotional maturity peaks at the age you become famous”
9 to 5, that she just knocked out for the movie, is way cleverer than it has any right to be.
The world never deserved Dolly, but we got her all the same. I'm glad.
Even as a country fan (mostly the classic stuff) her catalog has some insanely good deep cuts. She's one of the best pop song writers ever
To my knowledge Dolly Parton isn’t Catholic, but the Pope needs to start working on an exemption right now because she really needs to be sainted.
It’s about that time for me to cut off many, many individuals. Anyone defending R Kelly is someone I want nothing to do with, ESPECIALLY when they fucking bring up how the system treats Black folks as a reason to.... what? Excuse the shit he did?? Get less time than his predator ass deserves?? Fuck comparing him to a…
I think what this demonstrates is that some black men have a kind of narcissism that only allows them to see themselves as victims. Black women’s abuse and suffering seemingly does not even register for them. A man in a position of power abuses black women and girls for decades and these men cannot even bring…
My read on that editing was that it wasn’t literally the same day, but did happen in the same year.
I get that, and I’m not Korean, but I took the movie as kind of going, “here are the deep structures of society” that allow the rich to be nice and polite, and not examine their roles in the inequality they benefit from (because there is no pressure on them to, as they get cheap labor easily, get to maintain a polite…
But he's the Wonderkid!
The Roy and Keeley stuff felt a little forced, but I think we can all agree, “Avenge me Keeley” was pure gold.
I know there’s been a lot of chatter on the internet about Season 2 and a lot more criticism of this season. All I can say is, from a story perspective, I think it makes sense. If Ted Lasso is only going to be 3 seasons (as I’ve heard) then we’re in the “Act 2" portion of the series. This is where all of the…
I’m not sure what that would really add to the story. I think an essential element of the story is that Ted doesn’t know why his father killed himself, and that feels like a failure on his part.
