I think putting together a person victimized for having mental illness, a domestic abuse survivor, and a child bride makes sense. They were all controlled and manipulated by outside forces and then turned into public laughing stocks for things beyond their control. Seems pretty apt to me, regardless of if you “like”

I see a lot of arguments that this movie is glorifying or apologizing for the shitty things they did (well, mostly Jim did), but I don’t think that’s the case. It’s easy to reduce them to caricatures, just like it’s easy to reduce every televangelist to caricature, but that wouldn’t explain why they still rake in

This is where my consistent use of closed captions comes back to bite me: the CC blew the joke an instant before the photo went on-screen.  I mean, I still laughed loudly, but.

If they don’t go out of their way to do this, I’ve got a fanfic that needs written.

Yup. I think the point was to show us the limits of Lasso’s “I don’t care so much about wins and losses” coaching style.

It also helps to remember that those two insufferable non-entities would prove to be pretty good actors a few years later.

I loved when Nadja found herself sitting on the corpse and said “shame it wasn’t his face” while making a knowing look into the camera.

It also strikes me that aside from their love of football, Sam is basically Rupert’s exact opposite. Yes there is the obvious that he is young and black, but he is also incredibly kind and thoughtful.

Hello. Single 40yo woman, here, and if I looked like Rebecca I’d be enjoying the hell out of dating a hot young footballer. I am mildly creeped out by the fact that he is her employee, but he is just so damn charming. That smile! That blue suit with the sweater! That haircut! I can see why even with her reservations

I think it’s the underlining that’s the sticking point.

My brother and his wife are having a baby (their first), and I’ve been getting serious “uncle goal” vibes from the Roy/Phoebe relationship. Like most of the rest of this show it’s sweet without being cloying, and it’s become one of my favorite aspects of Ted Lasso.

I pretty much think they are playing the long game with the 3-season arc they’ve set up from the beginning and Ted laid out in the s1 finale. Man City is their Goliath - they lost to them to get relegated and now the FA Cup semi-final and in S3 when they are in the Premiere League, they’re finally going to beat Man

No mention of Dr. Fieldstone’s implied drinking problem, or did I misread that moment?

Was wondering just the other day if we were gonna see Jamie’s dad at the game since Man City seems to be his team. Well, I take no pleasure in being right about that.

Transporting Miners killed me

You say that you aren’t sure how the Rebecca/Sam storyline serves either character, but it seems to me like we’re building to a point where Rebecca has to choose between Sam and Cerithium Oil. The actor on the other end of the phone at CO is a known quantity given his work on Fleabag, so I’m certain he’ll appear

For maximum insult to injury, Gail’s next lover will be Meg from the gym.

Savage Nobody would probably do the same thing...

Can I “quote” you on that. You seem to enjoy it.

The reveal that the Rustralian cult leader is simply getting people to hallucinate to suggestions is pretty underwhelming. But that’s not as ridiculous as if she was actually conjuring up the dead themselves.

On a private note I have to give a lot of credit to this show regarding suicide and drug reaction. I had NO
