I started watching The Leftovers on HBO last week. I know Endgame dove into how the world was a little bleaker and people were depressed after The Snap, but that show goes deep into how people would react to a large chunk of the population just vanishing. All kinds of cults and other strange behavior from people. You

Partly correct. Jackson should be in the Estevez role, but Estevez should be playing the Hans role, and should inexplicably have a vaguely European accent even though he’s still playing the same character.

The first one is decent, the second one is godly, the third one is alright.

I thought of that same analogy, the sickness scenario. Sort of forces you into a no-win situation due to a lack of control, especially if you really were sick but your parents thought you were lying to get out of something. This guy treats his girlfriend the same way, it has to be *one* or *the other* and no middle

Yes. Because we’ve seen Clouds of Sil Maria, Personal Shopper, Holiday Season, etc, etc...

Thanks! Wasn’t sure how that worked.

I’m in recovery so a bit sensitive to media portrayal of substance abuse which continuously feeds into the publics terrible perception of addiction. I’m allowed to voice some of my worries when the results of a show that is watched by so many people I know might feed into their poor understanding of substances.

The showrunners should’ve embraced its weirdness a lot more than they have. The cast plays everything totally straight (not sure I agree with the reviewer about Connolly’s permanently pained expressions) and when it’s a show about an eternal runaway train, that makes everything seem farcical. And not in a good way.

This is apples and hammers. One is being offered an apple that would otherwise be thrown away, the other a hammer used to crush another person’s skull and steal their apple.

Season three is going to conclusively prove that fit hot guys have problems too.

Does this new character arc involve going to the zoo at any point?  If not, my expectations have been set too high by CXG.

I think what happens to the people who get their first dose by chance are automatically put into the queue to get their 2nd dose 3-4 weeks later (depending on which vaccine they get), even if they wouldn’t otherwise qualify. When you get your dose there’s someone there automatically scheduling you for your next dose.

This person:

Yeah, that’s how I’m seeing it. If the choice is somebody, anybody, getting the vaccine by chance or it’s garbage...use that shit. The more people getting vaccinated, the better. Obviously, assholes using money\connections for preferential treatment should be put in stocks in the public square and pelted with animal

Happenstance is different than active planning. Your friend of a friend’s friend didn’t plan on getting the shot, they just happened to be there at the right time and if they didn’t get the shot it probably would have gone to waste. Better somebody get it rather than it being trashed. There’s no moral question there.

Ironically both women played Thatcher.  I know the event that needs to be depicted.  The time she worked with Milton Eisenhower, Ikes brother, to diplomatically get prisoners from the Bay of Pigs incident released.  Eleanor hated Milton due to playing a role in the Japanese imprisonment camps from the war.  It was her

To capture Melania properly on film you’d have to tape a bunch of cats together.

Once I came out to a few friends and they accepted me, I wanted to go to the highest mountaintop and scream at the whole wide world.

If you don’t know, then school yourself.

I read that more as a play on 1970s era gender roles and patriarchy. Women can't be doctors, but if they work hard enough they can be a nurse.
